Trend. Fashion. Shopping. Hijabista. And the list goes on.. and on.. and on..

I was doing my usual tedious but essential data crunching this morning when suddenly my machine stopped working and taking longer than usual to “calculate”. So I quickly get my ipad out and start googling about. (Yeah, that’s what you get for dealing with 30++MB of data with a non-cooperating machine that just refuses to compute anything efficiently - you start to lose focus & your mind starts to wander about. Haha!)

Well, I was googling randomly when I landed on a blog which lead me to another fashion blog which then directed to another fashon blog – and before I even knew it, I was already blog-hopping!

You see, there are tons of fashion blogs out there including those for hijabistas. Countless I tell you. And each one is enticing in its own way. And these bloggers, they are icons to the girls who wish to be as pretty or as fashionable or as attractive as they are. Well, girls and fashions – they are inseparable.

Then, I looked again at their posted pictures imagining myself in those outfits. Hmmm…. maybe… and maybe not. Personally, I think some styles are pretty decent but some are just albeit too much. Not on a regular outing I supposed. Also, some styles with hijab are just merely for the fashion-sake – skinny jeans/leggings with short skirts with 2 layers of hijab? Come on ladies.. you can do better than that!

What daunt me on these are the naïve ladies out there who would just replicate without further thinking. And seeing them out there while strolling in the shopping malls irks me so much! Weekend outing with maxi skirt, huge chunky belt, jacket, double-triple layers of scarf with beaded headband or with huge bump that makes one’s head looks like a cone, multi-layers of necklaces, blotchy makeups… *gasp*. It can quickly turns into a fahsion disaster! Too much!!! Too much!!!! What have become of my generation now?? Adoiiiii~ macam nak pegi glam-night pon ade.

Owh well, don’t get me wrong. I’m not denying that the styles do look good (kalau kena pada gaya & occasion nya). It’s just that I think those who are replicating need to do a bit of a research before jumping the gun. Call me old-fashion, but I’m from the school of taught that less is more. And that you have to understand what you are doing. Just because things look good on others do not necessarily mean that they will look good on you. Each of us is unique. Go find a style that will best suit your personality, physique & the occasion. Fashion blogs are just there as guidelines. Remember that. J

Ps: when I was studying in the States, some Americans call those with hijab, “towel-head”. I used to wonder why. But when I look at these girls now, their wraps (the way they wrap it kot. Berbungkus2 di atas, kosong di dada) do look like towels or blanket more likely.

I am a hijabist. And I’m of the view that hijab is not just a fashion!

#sedang belajar melabuh2kan tudung. melonggar2kan pakaian.

Toodles.
