The Skin Journey...

Dear future me,

Recently, I’ve received many positive comments on my skin. *touch woods* Mind you, my skin is no perfect. Not even close. But I have to admit, it has tremendously improved from the last 5-6 months. Let me give you a little background on my skin “condition”.

Until I was 23, I’ve always been blessed with soft, supple, non-problematic, clean and cear skin. I never had to care so much about make-ups. Well, in fact, I despise them. I used to go out without the slightest hint of make-up; not even powder. My skin care regime had always been very minimal – no toner, serum, double cleanse (what is that?). Those days, I could get by with just splashing tap-water on my face.

But those were the days..

It all started with the desire to feel a little bit woman-ly. Soon after I got home from the States, I realized that my skin has gone albeit on the dry side. Then slowly, very slowly... i began to have zits on my forehead. Oh boy, was I worried sick?! Then I saw the ads on local newspaper on New York Skin Solution trial and I was like “Wallaaa! let’s give it a try!”. So I set up an appointment and was quick at deciding that I should sign up for a package. (I’ll do a review on NYSS facial spa later).

I realized then that my skin was getting worse following the subsequent treatments. I could not exactly tell why. My eczema was flaring up and I started to get the first and the worst breakouts of my life. So I stopped going to NYSS. By then, I’ve wasted thousands of RMs for the facial package and the products.

Then I hop on to Herbaline (yet another spa) and this wasn’t helpful either. They popped my pimples and I was left with major scars and damaged skin.

Since then, I was constantly stressed and that too was not really helpful to my already congested skin.

Then I started to go back to basic. I was busy smothering my face with homemade DIY facial stuff . I was using banana yogurt on some days, and cucumber, potato and tomato or anything that I could help myself to on the others. And owh heavenly! I was impressed with the result!! My skin was less iritated, my open pores were becoming less and less noticeable and my acne was considerably reduced!

Now I’m left with the acne scars, thanks to oh-not-so-some beautician who dared to prick on my acne and the superly active sebum gland and also uneven skin toned. But hey, these are nothing compared to what I was facing earlier the year! Good job current self! Ehehehe…

So future self, few pointers to you:
  1. Do not ever, I said EVER go to NYSS! It’s a major SCAM!!!!
  2. Never prick on your acne!
  3. Drink lots and lots of H2O!
  4. Natural stuff are your skin’s best ever friends!

I will have more updates on my newly found skin care regime that I would like to share with you. Stay tuned!! J
